Le Thunderbrol est un petit avion destiné au combat à la banderole.
Il est né suite à l'envie que nous avions dans notre club (JDM Nivelles), de disposer d'un avion pour cette discipline, peu cher, simple et rapide à construire, répondant au règlement de cette discipline, ayant de bonnes qualités de vol et simple à réparer en cas de crash.
Après plusieurs essais et prototypes, le Thunderbrol (voir l'histoire de son nom :La liste des propositions) est maintenant au point et la production en série a commencé.
- Peu cher : le kit vous est proposé pour la somme modique de 25 €. Une version RTC (Ready To Cover) est aussi disponible (49€). Il se contente d'un moteur de 4 cc (.25 cu.inches) et d'une installation radio simple avec 3 servos standards.
- Simple et rapide à construire : le fuselage est une simple caisse qui ne comprend que 21 pièces et l'aile est en structure classique simplifiée, que vous ne pouvez pas rater si vous la construisez sur une planche bien plate. Pour un modéliste "normal" ayant déjà construit en bois et disposant d'un atelier "normalement" équipé, la construction ne devrait pas prendre plus de 5 heures.
- Répondant au règlement de cette discipline : la "ressemblance" avec un chasseur de la deuxième guerre pourra facilement être obtenue par une décoration appropriée et l'envergure de 1m01 autorise un moteur de .25 .
- Ayant de bonnes qualités de vol : un profil biconvexe symétrique de 25 cm de corde avec une épaisseur relative de 12%, une surface portante de plus de 25 dm² pour un poids modeste assure une vitesse maximum impressionnante et une bonne stabilité aux basses vitesses. Un grand bras de levier arrière permet une réponse très vive des commandes et une grande stabilité de trajectoire. Il est très sain en vol et une fois à plat, vous pouvez franchement lâcher les commandes pour vous gratter le nez. Le moteur de .25 vous donne une généreuse réserve de puissance.
- Simple à réparer : du fait de sa structure simple il suffit en général de recoller tous les morceaux à la cyano et cela repart, le Thunderbrol N° 001 à déjà de nombreux crashs et réparations à son actif. Et si vous n'avez vraiment plus que de la sciure de bois ... au prix du kit ...
